RPA Fact Sheet

The RPA is an independent physician association dedicated to improving patient care.
Since its founding in 1985, the RPA has grown to more than 75 primary care physicians and 200 specialists who handle more than 8,000 covered lives.

A physician-owned, for-profit corporation, RPA is a top performer in the Chicagoland area and was ranked as one of the Top 25 IPAs by Crain's Chicago Business.
RPA has provided a return to its physician shareholders every year since 1993 and has given them the opportunity to earn significant bonuses for the past six years.

RPA physician shareholders represent dozens of countries and speak more than 40 languages, reflecting Chicagoland's growing diversity.
The RPA's internal Diversity Initiative Vision Statement drives our customer service and marketing efforts: "Our vision is to internalize the diversity of the shareholders whom we serve. In that process, we will relate to the diverse patient population whom our shareholders serve."

RPA negotiates health plan contracts that are superior to other market contracts for physician shareholders.
Through RPA, physicians currently participate in BlueCross and BlueShield HMO-Illinois, and Humana health plans. Contracts with WellCare Medicare and Harmony Health Plan are also available for RPA shareholder physicians.

The RPA creates and maintains a culture in which physician education is key and concurrent peer reviews are the foundation.
The RPA is committed to helping physicians improve the quality of patient care, while managing resources well. Through the RPA and their peers, physician shareholders learn more about and benefit from technological developments and marketing opportunities.

Currently, RPA physician shareholders are affiliated with several hospitals in Chicago's North Side, providing patients with flexibility and options for hospital care.
The RPA also contracts as needed with other area hospitals and institutions for specific patient services.

RPA consistently meets or exceeds standards in patient care and satisfaction.
Awarded Blue Ribbon status in 2006 by BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, RPA primary care physicians were recognized for their work in asthma, childhood immunization and diabetes. Plus, in a 2001 Member Satisfaction Survey conducted by HMOs of BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, RPA earned a stunning 100% satisfaction rating for friendliness and courtesy.
